Brandon Hogan

Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Brandon Hogan earned a B.A. in Political Science from Howard University in 2003, and in 2008 earned an M.A. in Philosophy from Tufts University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He earned a Ph.D in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013. In his dissertation "From Punishment to Recognition: Toward a Hegelian Theory of Criminal Justice," Professor Hogan argues for a conception of restorative justice based in Hegel's understanding of recognition and personhood. Professor Hogan has research interests in philosophy of law, political philosophy, ethics, and the later philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein.
